Pebeo Canvas Art

Hello everybody.

Hope you're having good weather at the moment.  The sun has been shining in Lancashire today and I've taken the opportunity to take some photos of my current art work which involved playing with Pebeo paints and resin based items.

I first came across these lovely products a few weeks ago at art group when the Skipton Art Shop came to demonstrate them for us.

I bought some of the items to play with and painted some canvases with them using a brush and also a pipette to create random blobs and splodges and then used Reeves Acrylic Paint for the backgrounds. I've created some super shiny sparkly abstract art.

Hope you like what I've created and the close ups that show the patterns created.

I would like to enter the following challenges:
613 Avenue Create (ends 5th May 2017)
Mixed Media Challenge 23 (ends 7th April 2017)
A Bit More Time to Craft (ends 16th April 2017)

Take care

Yarn Dyeing

Hello everybody

Well I haven't done any yarn dyeing since the end of last summer and forgot about a lot of the stuff that I'd dyed, but since I've been working hard on revamping my craft room to organise it so it's more art and painting friendly, I've come across them all and as I hadn't shared any photos with you of my  dyeing for a while I thought I'd share them.

First up was a blank canvas knitted base that I bought as long ago as June 2015 from Woolfest.  The canvas is a long knitted piece of fabric with two separate ends so that you can dye it however you choose and then unravel it to make two identical balls of yarn.  I used a length of cling film on top of the work top and used Kool Aid to dye the canvas and then wrapped it up in cling film and put it in the microwave.  Once it had cooled I then rinsed it and popped it outdoors on the line to dry and then once dry I unravelled it into two equal and identical balls which are now waiting in my stash ready to make something pretty with.  I think it is destined to make socks but they are way down in my list for the time being.  I took these photos a while back and they have my old Occasions & Creations logo on them, but never mind.

At the same time as dyeing the canvas blank I also mixed up some more Kool Aid and with the same colours I dyed some sparkly 4ply sock yarn and this is the result.

It is ever so sparkly in real life so it will have been an exceptionally pretty pattern that takes my eye for this lovely luscious yarn.  I'm still looking for something to do the yarn justice.

I do have some more to share with you but will have to take more photos of them when the weather picks up because despite it being sunny last Wednesday in Lancashire the weather has been dull and very wet since.

Take care

Rabbit rabbit rabbit

Hi everyone

Hope you've been keeping well since my last post.

I've been attending art group still and learning new techniques as I go.

I've done a few paintings since I shared my owl one, which I'll be sharing later this month, but here is my recent completed one from start to finish. I used watercolours from Royal Langnickel and water soluble oil pastels which were really cheap from The Works, fur texture created with KohINoor pencils and Posca white pen. Hope you like it. Here's some close ups and the finished project all framed up.

Starting to watercolour the background
and the background and watercoloured bunny beginning to add detail
Close up of the detail using the Kohinoor pencils
Hello there.....just look at the texture on the fur.

I achieved the background flowers by just dabbing a paint brush in multi colours and then dabbing them onto the paper after adding brush strokes of green for the stems and grass.
Boo......just look at my beautiful eyes.
 and my little twitchy nose
And here is the finished picture now it's been framed with the added little birds in the sky

I hope you like my wild rabbit/hare that I've created.  Please look in next week when I'll be sharing another make with you.

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

Owl 🦉 Painting

Hello everyone

Well I've been sketching and painting with my Royal Langnickel watercolours again using Daler Rowney mixed media paper to create a multicoloured owl.

I started off with a rough sketch outline of the shape and the eyes and then set about giving a wash of a bit of colour.
Those eyes looked a bit spooky so I did a bit more work on it.

And then with a few more hours work on the owl and the background I was happy with the outcome and this is the final watercolour painting with some close ups.

and here's a close up of the eyes.....
I used salt on the face and background to give texture and a little bit of a quirky look.

Here's my final owl.  I'm so pleased with my work and all those that have seen it love it too and it's given me confidence to carry on with my art journey.

Hope you like it.

I'd like to enter the following challenges: (MY TWO OF ANYTHING IS THE OWLS TWO EYES)

Take care

Rather Late Happy New Year

Hello everyone

Well you may have noticed I've been missing for a few weeks (AND NEARLY A WHOLE MONTH!!) so I'd like to wish all my followers a very belated Happy New Year. I hope it's been a good start for you all and that 2017 holds all you wish and dream of. I'm certainly grabbing this year with both hands whether it be crafty or otherwise

I've left the Polkadoodles/Digi Choosday design team I was on to pursue lots of other interests.... one of them be some voluntary work st a local hospice and the second is to grow my own art.

I've never drawn much myself and am certainly out of my comfort zone but I'm prepared to challenge myself, as always, and willing to learn.

Back at the beginning of December I visited a local art exhibition and after chatting to some of the artists and art group members I decided to take the plunge and join the art group and I've now been going a few weeks and I'm love love loving every minute of meeting new people and learning new things each week. from shaky beginnings I've now grasped a few different mediums and been practising lots and would look like to share with you my very first watercolour painting (using Derwent Inktense pencils) totally done by me from scratch including the drawing all from a photo taken in our garden last summer.

So from the first drawing stages here is my finished art piece now framed.

I'm so pleased with my first attempt and am now thinking of other things and in between working and other stuff I'm challenging myself daily whilst continuing my crafty journey of adult colouring books and knitting and crocheting.  I've given my painting to my mum and dad for their wedding anniversary and it is heading for their hallway as I type.

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

Stay tuned for some more art work of my own in the coming weeks and months.

Take care

It's Digi Choosday Day - Week 51 - Anything Goes

Hello everybody
It’s Digi Choosday day again.  Hope you’re ready to enter another Digi Choosday Challenge. Our last one of 2016!!

Every week our challenge will be ‘ANYTHING GOES ’ but the design team will have their own challenge theme just to keep them on their toes, which this week it’s ANYTHING GOES for us as well.

As usual you can click on the Thumb Linkies below to be taken off to the Doodles website for all the collection details.

So I've made another card to add to my Christmas collection.  This time I've used the Winnie in Winterland Collection and layered the wreath over one of the sentiments and then decoupaged it and added Stickles Glitter Glue in red on the berries and then layered it onto some lovely paper (I adore the lace look to it....very realistic looking indeed).  I've used green and red card for the matting and layering which I've distressed the edges using my scissors.  The mini Christmas trees are from The Works .  They're super cute.  I used a red ribbon bow from my stash and have stuck a red sparkly oval gem to the centre.  I've left space at the bottom of the card so I can personalise fact it's for my mum and dad.  But's just between us lot.  Lol.

Here is my DT Inspiration for this week:

I’m always excited to see your makes for each week’s challenge but remember not only can you win a badge for your blog if you are one of the top 3 Design Team choices but you can win a fabulous prize if you are the random winner too.  AND not only that there’s a 24 hour discount code available too so you’d better head off over there right now to grab it.

Why not join in our Facebook groups as well.  Just click on the links below:

Just ask to join the groups to join in all the fun.

We pride ourselves on being a friendly and informative team and so it’s a great community group to join in with and show off your Polkadoodles makes or just ask us general crafting questions.  There’s always one of the Design Team around to have a natter with and offer guidance and inspiration, so don’t be shy….head on over there right now!!!    And with great competitions and giveaways each week/month too, why not give us a like on facebook right now.
