Craft Room

Hello all

Thought you might all like to see some photos of my craft room where all the things I sell are created.

The room is packed with storage and lots of my favourite nick nacks and ornaments and really is somewhere to chill out. I love the colour pink and so naturally the walls and lots of the storage feature pink and my second favourite colour is lime green and so the combination of the two colours goes really well together and the room is lovely and bright to craft in.

This is my comfy chair by the window where I do my knitting, crocheting and cross stitch orjust read. The storage behind my chair contains magazines that I collect together with my Cricut and Cuttlebug and an area to the left set up with a light box to photograph my items.

This area next to my comfy chair is my main working area with a fab desk I bought two years ago from Storage 4 Crafts on the internet and together with shelving and storage within the desk houses all the things I need daily. The lamp above my desk …

Card Competition

Hello everybody A few weeks ago I was asked if I wanted to enter a card making competition at a local craft shop, so for the past few days I’ve been mulling over a design I should create so that I could take it into the shop before the end of the month when judging takes place. And ta-dah here is the finished card. I used a background paper from a crafting CD I have called ‘Magical Winter’ from Polka Doodles crafting which features a lovely scene of a snowy sky and hills and used a font called ‘Holiday Home’ for the text I put in the right hand corner saying ‘Magical Christmas Wishes.’ I then matted the background paper onto silver mirri card and layered in onto an 8x8” card. Then I stamped the jumbo stamp called ‘Pine Drift’ from ‘Stampendous’ onto ‘Ink Me’ professional stamping card from ‘Hunkydory’ with a ‘Memento’ ink pad in ‘Tuxedo Black’ a total of ten times and then coloured the images using my ‘Graph It’ pens in colours ‘Sky’ and ‘Dark Cyan’ which I then cut out and decoupaged usi…

Bananas...or so to speak

Hello all A good friend of mine recently visited Universal Studios in USA and came back hooked on Minions from the Despicable Me films and so I thought I would check the internet for a pattern to crochet one for her. I am relativelynew to crochet, having only started in March this year and so having never crocheted a toy before I had to choose the pattern carefully so that I could follow the instructions. After searching on Pinterest (of which I am an avid'pinner'!!!) I found a link to a pattern posted onRavelry that many people were raving about on a blog called All About Ami (which you can find HERE) I then had to find some yellow (banana colour) yarn which I had to look around my local area for as I wanted to start immediately. I already had felt and blue and black and grey yarn and the hook I needed so off I set on making a Minion one Sunday afternoon in October. He soon grew and started to take shape and then at the beginning of November on a Thursday/Friday evening Minion Da…

Dyeing Yarn Update

Hello everybody.

You may remember back in the summer months (seems like such a long time ago!!!) I forayed into the world of dyeing yarn with Kool Aid.

I bought some undyed yarn from Woolfest and a couple of packets of Kool Aid and used the microwave to dye the yarn and then left it to dry on the washing line. Well back in September I decided that I was going to make something from myself with my first go at dyeing yarn and so decided on the crochet pattern called South Bay Shawlette which is available online and through Ravelry. I used a 4mm hook and it soon started to take shape. In amongst all the other things I have been making recently I finally finished it last weekendand here is the finished item.

It is so soft and snuggly and has been worn a few times now with a black coat where the vibrancy of the colour really pings as well as the sparkly bits too that catch the light. Will be ordering some more undyed yarn to have another go at dyeing with Kool Aid very soon. Loved the exper…
